Kitchen Trends Revealed

Wed, 03/24/2010 - 10:23AM by Hairtrimer 0 Comments - 8 Views

"I need to change my old, brown and boring kitchen! I want my kitchen to flow and function for my family's needs. I enjoy when my friends congregate in my kitchen, but I need it designed so they stay out of my way! These are typical issues we hear on a daily basis from families interested in remodeling their old kitchens." states Bruce Roth, local owner of Sycamore Kitchens & More. "Likewise, it appears that homeowners across the country are experiencing the exact same issues." A recent survey of homeowners across the Nation shows the kitchen has evolved from a room simply for food preparation, to a room where a variety of activities take place. Survey respondents specified using the kitchen for socializing with friends and family and creating a hub to manage the household including paying bills and keeping the family organized. The survey showed most people who remodel do so because their kitchens are outdated - which they describe as dark, cluttered, boring or confining. Of course, one of the main reasons that families remodel is that the current kitchen is outdated. "Homeowners want kitchens that are functional, with the space and features for entertaining as well as meal preparation. Designing multi-functional kitchens for our local clients is a trend that is consistent with the rest of the country." stated Roth. The survey revealed the "ideal kitchen" described as open, warm, organized, light, happy, gourmet, homey and comfortable. "Cabinetry Manufacturers have responded to these trends by providing many new innovations including built-in storage solutions which aid in organization." says Roth. "In addition, many of the new cabinetry offerings feature hand-rubbed glazes and distinctive character finishes which evoke a warm, homey, comfortable tone. Gourmet, professional style appliances such as double wall ovens and cook tops with features such as griddles and grills tend to be popular according to the survey. In addition, stainless steel appliances tend to be the most popular. "However, we have noticed an increase in the use of cabinetry panels to cover appliances fronts such as dishwashers and built-in refrigerators, because clients don't want that much stainless steel- the panels create a warmer look." Due to their busy lifestyle, a majority of the people questioned say they don't have time to cook. Only 30 percent make breakfast daily, and only 60% prepare dinner five or more times a week - and they rarely do so from scratch. So, it's no surprise that built-in microwaves have become an essential appliance. However, double ovens are also popular- especially for holidays and entertaining. Locally, warming drawers, appliances designed to keep foods warm, have become a noteworthy component in the overall design. It was interesting to discover that 30% of those surveyed said they would have spent more if they had to do it all over again and only 7% felt they spent too much. Of those who would do it all over again, upgrading the quality or features of their cabinetry and enlarging the actual size of the kitchen were the main responses for additional spending. The results of the survey show that the kitchen is evolving and becoming more of the family hub which also doubles as the entertainment center on occasion. The need to create an efficient and comfortable, welcoming space for today's busy families remains the challenge for kitchen designers. "That's why it's so important to make sure you're working with a designer who understands the relationship between the latest trends and how they interconnect with your lifestyle and priorities to create your new kitchen. After all, you want a kitchen designed that provides for your needs and stands the test of time...because you only want to make that investment once!" Bruce Roth is the local owner of Sycamore Kitchens & More, a full service design and installation firm specializing in creating custom kitchens, bars, home entertainment centers, baths, laundry rooms and closets and is located at 123 North Sycamore Street in Newtown, PA. Sycamore Kitchens & More is an exclusive dealer of Yorktowne Cabinetry which features many of the innovative design elements, storage solutions and finishes mentioned in this article. How Safe is the Environment You Provide Your Family?

Wed, 03/24/2010 - 10:14AM by Hairtrimer 1 Comment - 14 Views

Basically, the kitchen is a part of a home where you store, prepare and eat your food. There are different kitchen styles but typically it is where the stove, sink, refrigerator and kitchen cabinets are found along with other electrically operated appliances and safe home products. However, contrary to what others may believe, there are dangerous products that can be stored in the kitchen which can cause hazards to you and your family that you may not be aware of. With this article I hope I can help you to know what those dangerous products are and safeguard your family safety. My advice to you is, use instead Green natural cleaning products and safer home products. Among the dangerous products found in the kitchen are all purpose cleaners, aluminum cleaners, Asbestos floor tile, bleach and detergent, disinfectant, drain, glass and floor cleaners, plastics, insect killers and even the gas stove. You may think these products are nothing but it can put your life in danger if not properly handled and stored. Aside from the not so good odor that they emit, these products can also become toxic once it enters your body's internal system. What's worst is for these products to react with each other and cause dangerous reactions that can put our life at risk. Moreover, it is a fact that we need these products in our kitchen. Of course we think we need bleach and detergents to wash our clothes and dishes. Without insect killers, rodents and cockroaches will surely take over. Or, can we work well in a dirty kitchen because we have thrown out the drain, glass and floor cleaners? And how can we cook without the gas stove? The good thing is, there are safer alternatives that we can use these days. Thanks to these environmentally safe non toxic cleaners. Green natural cleaning products are now available both online and off line. But if you want to save money and your precious time in hopping from one store to the other, we can show an online store for these products. You have lots of safe home products to choose from so make sure that you opt for the real green product for your kitchen and your family safety. The products I am talking about are made without ammonia, bleach, phosphates or formaldehyde, yet they clean better. What really caught my attention they do not even require a safety cap. If you found this article of interest then you will want to go to my websites to find further information. You can read more about these Green Products at Safer For Your Home. I use these products exclusively in my home and have found that skin and lung issues have just gone away. I have found that these products also cost less than grocery store brands. You can e-mail me at jwm1@tds.net. You can also call me at 918-543-2675 and please leave a detailed message. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=J_W_Miller

Wed, 03/24/2010 - 10:12AM by Hairtrimer 0 Comments - 13 Views

I know that there are many crafty people out there who also love to cook. If this sounds like you then here is the Cricut Cartridge that was made just for you! From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge has so many wonderful shapes of all the appliances and gadgets that you will find in your own kitchen, along with all kinds of food shapes too. Now for the question that some of you may be asking yourself "What would I do with shapes of food & kitchen appliances" My answer to you is A LOT!!! Here are some examples of what you can make with this cartridge - First let's make recipe cards. How cool would it be to go into your recipe file and instead of pulling out a plain/boring recipe card, you can pull out a card that is colorful and fun. Have you ever been invited to a Bridal shower and they ask you to bring a recipe for the new bride. Now how cute would your recipe be if you added some of these images. Guarantee the bride will make your recipe first, just because it looks good. How about your favorite charity or support group that is having a fund raiser from a cookbook. Wouldn't it be fun to add a piece of pie next to the recipe or maybe a rolling pin next to the recipe for dough. How about making signs for the neighborhood block party. You can cut a big BBQ grill and add that to your sign. Using your Cricut Expression Machine you can make it really big. Now let's talk about scrapbooking. You can use this cartridge for hundreds of layouts, ranging from making holiday cookies with the kids, to a picture of a couple relaxing having a cocktail. There is a really good looking martini on this cartridge. Let's say that you only like to eat out at restaurants. You have a list of your favorite restaurants with the phone numbers next to your phone. Spice up that list and next to the Italian restaurant cut out the fork with spaghetti on it, and for the Seafood place, how about the platter with the fish on it. See you can use this cartridge too! They thought of everything when they designed this cartridge. What can you cook up with this From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge? Using Disinfectant Products to Keep a Clean Kitchen

Wed, 03/24/2010 - 10:10AM by Hairtrimer 0 Comments - 17 Views

People usually take pride in their kitchens as a place of gathering, cooking and eating. When most don't suspect is that many innocent looking areas can actually be a germ paradise. Counters, sinks, floors and even your refrigerator can be center for germs. Normal cleaning can't always penetrate certain areas or kill the germs. Looking around your kitchen will usually tell no tales, because these critters are invisible to the naked eye. You can, however, see growth like mold as these kinds of germs usually form visible colonies. If you have this degree of "infestation", you definitely need to take action. There is only one type of cleaning product that can get the job done thoroughly and keep your kitchen a safe place to cook. Disinfectant products are key when cleaning any kitchen environment. Microbial build up can be eliminated with the simple use of your favorite disinfectant cleaner. For most kitchen surfaces, start with a good wipe down using a rag or sponge, then follow up with a spray of antibacterial cleaner. High traffic areas like countertops usually stay cleaner because they are smooth, non-porous and are used a lot more. Places where food and moisture can gather, like your drawers, refrigerator crisper, and under the microwave and places where germs hide out. Perform a regular cleaning of these areas and any other suspected germ locations. Tough build-up can be removed with a damp textured sponge. After all food and debris is removed, take your disinfectant cleaner and apply liberally. Depending on the instructions, you may have to leave it sitting for a few minutes as the cleaner goes to work. After this treatment, you should be able to feel safe about cooking in your kitchen. If you thoroughly cleaned the areas where you store utensils, you don't have to worry about mixing together your food with tainted tools. So, how often should you use disinfectants? There are non-toxic varieties that you can keep on the counter top for easy access. Use it as you work to maintain a healthy kitchen. A light spray should be plenty after each cooking job. Food products like meats and eggs can carry illnesses when raw. Wipe up any meat juices or raw eggs with a paper towel, and then apply your disinfectant. By following some simple tips, anyone can use disinfectant effectively and with ease. While we can't see the germs that can harm us, using a disinfectant product gives us the advantage we need in fighting against them. Train your children to make good use of antibacterial items like soap, sprays and wipes so the whole family can join in the efforts. Venturing outside the home can open up a whole new dimension of personal health concerns. Consider wearing a protective mask when entering populated areas like shopping centers and schools to stay safe. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Patton_Andres

Extending the Life of Your Kitchen Appliance With Cuisinart Parts

Wed, 03/24/2010 - 10:09AM by Hairtrimer 0 Comments - 8 Views

Cuisinart is a well known brand name in kitchen products and this has been the case for almost 40 years. Founded in 1971 they made their name with the Cuisinart food processor which was introduced in 1973. However this is only a small part of their range of products and they manufacture a wide variety of plugged and unplugged appliances for use in the kitchen. Cuisinart products which are available on the market these days include coffee makers, blenders, waffle makers and kitchen tools & gadgets. The company is renowned for producing innovative culinary tools and equipment and many top chefs as well as ordinary householders use their products on a daily basis. One of the attractive features about purchasing a Cuisinart kitchen accessory is that they are built to last. Many are manufactured such that if a part wears out or is damaged it can be easily replaced. This can help to extend the life of a product which is a great benefit. It is obviously more cost effective to purchase a replacement part than have to buy a completely new model. There is a range of Cuisinart parts for the different kitchen accessories that they produce. One of the best places to look for these is the Cuisinart web site. The Parts & Accessories section on this shows each of the appliances they make along with the available replacement parts. It is therefore a simple process of finding the model that you own and checking if a replacement part is available. The CCJ-100 Citrus Juicer is a popular choice of Cuisinart kitchen appliance. This has a number of juicer parts that can be replaced and these include the juicing cone, the juicing cover and the juicing container. These are affordable parts to replace with each costing $5 or less to purchase. The cost of replacing parts on a Cuisinart kitchen appliance is relatively affordable to do. The 20 cup food processor costs around $800 to purchase for example. However most of the replacement parts cost around $50 or less to purchase. If a problem occurs with your appliance, it is therefore a much cheaper alternative to replace a part than it is to buy a new processor. Replacement parts for Cuisinart kitchenware can be purchased from Cuisinart themselves. However the various products and parts they sell are also available in a number of department stores such as Macy's, JC Penney and Sears and also many specialty gourmet retailers throughout the country. If you need a replacement part it can be worth going back to the retailer that you purchased the product from to find out if they have a part available. Cuisinart is a popular brand name and the company makes a wide range of kitchen products for home use. They are a trusted name and manufacture high quality products at reasonable prices. With so many replacement parts available for the various products they sell, buying a Cuisinart kitchen appliance can be a cost effective option. It ensures that if parts wear out they can be easily and affordably replaced and this should result in a long life for your Cuisinart kitchen appliance.
